The holidays are nearing which can bring on extra stress for many of us (not to mention the election and pandemic). We want to remind everyone to take time to focus on self care!

Self care is the focus on your mental, physical, and emotional well-being. It’s different and important for everyone and it doesn’t mean you’re selfish! We all need to recharge our minds and bodies after dealing with life.

Core elements to keep in mind for self care –
  • Exercise – We know it’s not everyone’s favorite but walking around your neighborhood for 30 minutes can improve your mood and reduce stress, anxiety, and depression.
  • Sleep – Adults need 8 hours of sleep each night in order for our brains to function correctly! Without it, you can count on being grumpy.
  • Drink water – Staying hydrated keeps us energized and our brain functioning correctly. Dehydration = poor mood and memory.
Examples of self care activities
  • Go on a walk (it’s gorgeous out!)
  • Reorganize your closet
  • Call an old friend you haven’t spoken to in a while
  • Turn off all electronics 30 minutes before bed

This isn’t an all inclusive list! Keep in mind what works for you might not work for others and vice versa. What’s important is that you find what works best for you.
